Ravensong, I think you've got the touch ^^. You saw yourself what I thought was the only real flaw in your drawings.

They were stiff. No matter the pose. I hope your new style turns out well . Your drawings were still good because of the details and well done shadows. But as you said already, stiff.

I think this will greatly improve your drawings Gj in finding your weakness!

I get what you mean about the stiffness, Ravensong. Heck, I think my poses are stiff half the time. The other thing I notice is that your shading, though very robust, dosen't always give the illusion of depth. This can play killer especially in the face.

You would be amazed what a soft light coming from the opposite direction of your main lighting will do for that. A good way to get this is to laydown the shading how you want it, and erase a bit of it out for the bounce light. Ever see those kind of Putty Erasers? (They are actually called Kneaded Erasers) They are awesome for that because you can "tap" them on the pic and they will lift the graphite off softly.

Just a tip, m8. As artists we are constantly improving ourselves!

I don't understnad why you're so mad ravensong. I love it! I think the face is brilliant! Then again, ask me something about writing, I can criticise like an expert, ask me about pictures, I'm not as experienced. Either way, I like it. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.

I guess you could have covered a bit more of her left breast ^^.

I think you improved still on the way but a much more dynamic picture (curved back, waving clothes), I guess u dislike the expression? You can change that a lot by changing the upper eye lid and mouth. I do not say this is a bad face at all though ^^.

You are going in the right direction in my opinion.

don't worry, it's cool - still looks like Ravensong, but then that's what it should do! and you can't change your style from one day to the next, I tried to, but it's just not possible

I like it

Dude, you need to stop being so harsh on yourself.
If there is in fact a proportional error with the head, then I can't see it.
In fact, I can only say that I love the picture ^^

It's never a bad idea to try to shake up your habits and try new things, though as Morag said, it won't happen quickly (and it won't always work out like you hoped).

These latest two are great. The clothing on the elementalist is insane...first all the detail, then the careful cross-hatched shading. *whistle admiringly*

Ravensong, I know this is...out of the ordinary, but could you draw a character from the story I posted on the Lyssa's Fiction board please? You don't have to, but here's the link in case you want to take a look.

Well thank you all you are kind ^^.
Yes i am harsh to my self couse Im never satisfied with the final piece. I begin drawing with enthusiasm, sketch looks awsome...then I begin to outline it...it still looks great...then i add details...it looks ok....then i shade it...it looks lame...then i add final touch...then it looks bad!

@angelexperiment: Sure thing, would be interesting, especially the black swan lady hmm....but after comissions....

These are my last comissions, but, since OGAWC members are thirsty for fresh art ill still draw for them after the comissions...those won`t be finished every day...I`ll do em for free (tips will be welcome) but I will draw when I have time...

Hey man, Party Paragon is some of your best stuff I've seen to date. I especially dig the hands. I can feel her two step cha-cha, if you know what I mean - I can see the motion and weight.

Something that pops out at meh from school (of what little I recall) there are certain places you try not to cut off a figure. They are at the neck, the waist, the knees, and the ankles. Something about dismemberment and decapitation, I dunno...It's always best to end the image just above or below these places.

I'm liking the shading for sure, especially around her, ahem, fanny. The tones you have going where her right thigh meets it works really well to bring out the depth. Your faces are definitely getting better...still a little bit stiff, but coming along.

Heh. If you ever want me to shut up, just say the word, eh?
